Position: Level II PASRR Assessor

Independent contractor

Location: Work from home, flexible hours based on availablility with regional travel required per assessment. The assessments are completed face-to-face.

MI and Dual assessor positions available in the following counties in Indiana & Virginia:

INDIANA

  • Southern: Lawrence, Monroe,

  • Southwest: Vigo, Martin, Orange, DuBois, Crawford & Perry.

  • East Central: Richmond, Muncie, Madison, New Castle:

  • Northwest: LaPorte, Lake, Jasper & Newton

VIRGINIA

  • Positions available throughout the state: Below are areas of need currently. Wise County, Botetourt County, North Hampton County, Multnomah County, Scott County, Nottoway County, Accomack County, Buchanan County, Shenandoah County, Suffolk County, Campbell County, Rockbridge County,Frederick County , Bedford County, Grayson County, Dickenson County, Alexandria County & Franklin County

Job Description:

  • Dual: Assessor must have experience working with individuals with mental illness and intellectual disability or related condition.

Assessors perform document-based and telephonic utilization review for contracted services; screening for diagnosis or suspicion of serious mental illness and or intellectual disability, and medical necessity for short or long-term nursing facility placement.

Assessors must:

  • Conduct & electronically submit Level II evaluations for applicants seeking admission into a Medicaid-certified nursing facility, identified through the Level I screening and other medical information

  • Develop service recommendations based on the individual’s mental health condition, intellectual/developmental disability, functional level, and medical conditions and disabilities

  • Adhere to quality assurance standards and quality improvement activities; participate in ongoing reassessment of processes to offer opportunity for improvement and/or change.

Pay & schedule structure: Assessors are compensated for each completed assessment. As an independent contractor, you set your schedule. Assessments can be administered in the evenings and on weekends if preferred. There is no office to report to — and all assessments typically occur in hospital and nursing facilities.

Requirements:

  • MI only Assessor requirements

    • Master’s degree or Registered Nurse with direct clinical experience.

    • Minimum of 3+ year of experience of direct clinical mental health and behavioral health treatment experience working with adults with mental illness

    • Laptop with access to Windows

    • Working knowledge and understanding of behavioral health diagnoses, psychotropic medications, medical diagnoses and prescribed medications

  • Dual Assessor requirements

    • Master’s degree or Registered Nurse with direct clinical experience.

    • Minimum of 3+ year of experience of direct clinical mental health and behavioral health treatment experience working with adults with mental illness

    • Minimum of 3+ year of experience working with individuals with intellectual disability or related condition (ID/RC)

    • Laptop with access to Windows

    • Working knowledge and understanding of behavioral health diagnoses, psychotropic medications, medical diagnoses and prescribed medications

Expectations & Responsibilities

  • Review and communicate all information with providers, utilizing computer database system for determining nursing facility placement appropriateness

  • Utilize both referral screens and medical records review to make determinations

  • Develop and document a clinical rationale supporting the review decision as the final step in the review process.

  • Work independently, while exhibiting excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Interact professionally with providers (hospital & nursing home staff, physicians, community service workers, etc.), state contract officers, and coworkers while seeking or providing information.

  • Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for supporting a superior written rationale for review determination

  • Responsive and able to meet deadlines
